Economic Indicators: Introduction

Introduction

This guide has been developed as a general introduction to resources for Economic Indicators. It is not a comprehensive listing of sources, but rather a starting point from which you can begin your research according to your information needs.

Economic indicators are statistical measures which reflect the state of the economy. They derive primarily from data generated by government agencies.

Examples of economic indicators are:

  • Consumer Confidence Index
  • Consumer Price Index (CPI)
  • Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
  • Housing Starts
  • Producer Price Index (PPI)

Most of our research guides suggest statistical resources as well so remember to consult them along with this guide.
