Evaluating Sources

Although librarians have carefully compiled these sources, there is no substitute for your own evaluation. Use the following guides to help you.

Improving Your Googling

To avoid searching through endless unreliable websites, improve your google searches from the start.

Use these as part of your search:

  • site:.ufv.ca (to UFV) e.g. daycare site:.ufv.ca
  • site:.gc.ca (to search the Canadian gov website)
  • site:.gov.bc.ca (to search the BC government website) "agricultural land reserve" site:.gov.bc.ca
  • site:.bc.ca (for BC sites)

Also include words like disseration, thesis, or pdf to bring up more reliable documents.

Try "at-risk youth" pdf site:.ufv.ca

or

sustainability site:.bc.ca

The University of the Fraser Valley is situated on the traditional territory of the Stó:lō peoples. The Stó:lō have an intrinsic relationship with what they refer to as S’olh Temexw (Our Sacred Land), therefore we express our gratitude and respect for the honour of living and working in this territory.
