The BCFH mission is to promote interdisciplinary inquiry into the area of food, particularly the ways in which food production, distribution and consumption have changed over the years. We welcome explorations that contribute to understanding historical, cultural, social, economic and political implications of food and everyday life in this province.

This blog is a space for exploring Canadian food history through the making and eating of primary sources (recipes) while thinking about their historical context and origins.

This web publication has the purpose to describe and to reference the published literature on traditional animal foods known and used by Indigenous Peoples of northern North America.

The Cookbook and Home Economics Collection includes books from the Young Research Library Department of Special Collections at UCLA, The Bancroft Library at The University of California, Berkeley, and the Prelinger Library. These fascinating books take us back to an America in the early decades of the 20th century covering topics on cookery, textiles, family and home, budgeting, domestic sciences, and many other delightful topics.
