Welcome to the library resources guide for Prof. Linda Howell's CMNS 125 class.
The purpose of this guide is to highlight key resources for conducting research and preparing an annotated bibliography and a persuasive presentation for your class.
You may also want to consult other libguides such as:
Not all journals are created equal, and not all will be appropriate for every research need. These are the most common types of journals you are likely to encounter in your research, presented in order from most to least academic or scholarly:
This assignment helps you to meet the following learning objectives:
Part A: Complete the Online Library Assignment at https://library.ufv.ca/research-help-guides/online-library-assignment/
(Don't forget to forward the Certificate of Completion to your professor!)
Part B: Annotated Bibliography (Read A% instructions on pages 6-7 to find topics)
The purpose of this section is to help you compile evidence for your upcoming A5 persuasive presentation. Choose your research presentation topic from the "Research Presentation topics" list.
Using UFV library databases, find 4 or more books, videos, newspaper or magazine articles and at least one scholarly (peer-reviewed) article on your chosen topic. Remember to use keywords to broaden or narrow your search. Read these sources carefully and take notes. Be sure that your notes paraphrase rather than quote or copy the exact words of your source.
Using your notes, write a descriptive and evaluative annotated bibliography using APA style and 5-7 sentences per annotation. (See instructions for annotated bibliographies and APA style in Module 3.)
