When creating these lists I was confronted with a problem of how the library system organizes Indigenous authors' works. Sometimes the material is found under fiction even though the material is true recollections about the Residential School experience. Upon further reading I found this is not an uncommon problem. Jeannette Armstrong writes in her foreword to Marsden's Crisp Blue Edges:
Users should still evaluate the material to determine whether it fits the categorical definitions of their instructor and their assignment.
We also acknowledge that the subject headings that the library uses are offensive. We apologize and we are working on a solution.
