Seed Library

The Chilliwack Library has created a seed library for UFV and the surrounding community. Here we'll share resources and how to tutorials on planting, and preserving seeds.

Borrowing from the Library

How to borrow seeds?

Borrowing from the Seed library is easy and free! Anyone is welcome to borrow seeds, simply come to the library, browse through the seed drawers or consult our binder, and select your seeds.

Please bring your selections up to the service desk so we can record your seeds in our book for an updated inventory. It is optional to leave contact information to be informed of seed restocking, new resources or workshops around the seed library.

Currently all of our seeds are considered 'easy' to grow. Growing instructions can be found in our seed binder - ask a staff member to print you a copy of a seed page - through this LibGuide or through the seed company's website (see below).

We ask that when your crops are harvested, if you are able, to preserve seeds and donate them back to the Seed Library. We have video tutorials linked under the How to Preserve Seeds tab.

We hope the Seed Library cycle of borrowing, growing, preserving, and donating continue for a long time.
