Video Game Collection

Overview

In consultation with the Media Arts Department, UFV Library launched a video game collection in Winter 2026 to support UFV students, staff, and faculty to support research, teaching, and learning activities. Additionally, access and use of video games can support wellbeing of the campus community. The video game collection and consoles are at the Abbotsford Campus Library and can be used by current UFV students, faculty, and staff.


Consoles available at UFV Library:

  • Nintendo Switch
  • Xbox Series X

 Rules for using the UFV Library Video Game Collection:

  • Games can be borrowed for 7 days
  • Consoles must stay in the Library (in-library use only, max. 4 hours)
  • Overdue fines will be charged $1.00 per day if recalled
  • Lost game fee is minimum $100
  • Lost/damage fee for the Xbox is $720
  • Lost/damage fee for the Switch is $470
  • Games are kept at the Abbotsford Library Circulation Desk
  • Games are only available for loan to current UFV students, staff, and faculty
  • Use of consoles is on a first come first serve basis - no holds
  • UFV ID must be presented to borrow games and consoles
  • Primary use of borrowing and using video games is for academic study
  • Consoles and games will be treated with care and if a user notices any issues or suspected damage they will report to Library staff immediately 
  • Users will comply with Library conduct policies as well as any other Library staff instructions when playing video games using provided console(s) in Library spaces (see links below)
  • Users will comply to UFV related policies (see links below)
