Culturally Responsive Pedagogy

Practitioner Reflections

To develop this competency, explore activities and resources that help you answer the following questions:

  • How do I create learning environments that are safe, respectful, and inclusive for students of all identity groups?

  • How do I help students develop empathy, respect, and understanding for people who are both similar to and different from them?

  • How do I role-model proactive response to all forms of bias incidents (i.e., racist speech)?

  • How do I help students recognize their responsibility to stand up against all forms of bias incidents in their everyday lives?

The University of the Fraser Valley is situated on the traditional territory of the Stó:lō peoples. The Stó:lō have an intrinsic relationship with what they refer to as S’olh Temexw (Our Sacred Land), therefore we express our gratitude and respect for the honour of living and working in this territory.
