Tip: Remember to take advantages of the limiter: Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) to limit primarily to journal articles.

Example searches:

  • Shakespeare "stage directions" tempest
  • "theater of the absurd"
  • "tomson highway"
  • "enda walsh"

Evaluating Websites

1. Who is the author and what are their credentials? Are they well-respected in the theatre world?

Examples:

2. Beware the crowd-sourced reviews at Amazon.com and Indigo.com. E.g.:

3. Who is the publisher of the site? Is it a university, a blog, a media outlet, a journal, a magazine, a commercial site, an opinion site?

4. Is the information well researched, well argued, reasonable, and well supported? Do they cite any credible secondary sources?

5. Is the information unbiased and objective?
