AdventureSmart is a national prevention program focused on reaching Canadians, and visitors to Canada, who participate in outdoor recreational activities. AdventureSmart combines online and on-site awareness with targeted outreach to reduce the number and severity of Search and Rescue Incidents in Canada.
Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) in British Columbia is done solely by volunteers. On call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, these unpaid professionals provide their time, gear, dedication, and expertise to the people of BC and the subjects they rescue.

The Chilliwack Fire Department has 6 fire halls which are staffed by 40 career and 135 paid on- call dedicated and well trained fire officers and firefighters. In addition to the primary responsibilities of providing fire response for an area over 260 square kilometres.

A University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) professor has received $1,145,460 from the Canadian Space Agency to investigate how astronauts experience long-term missions on the International Space Station (ISS). Over six years, (through 2031), Dr. Jelena Brcic and her national research team will work with astronauts to understand how they manage stress and find meaning in their work.
