Searching for Academic Sources - UFV Library

If your assignment says to use academic articles - we strongly advise you to use the library website! It's kind of our thing. The library buys access to the latest research that you will not find on Google Scholar.

Try a search using your keywords in the library search box below. Notice you can limit to scholarly articles before you even start your search.

[Note: We are working to improve access to our collections and revising our subject headings to be more respectful and inclusive. Please be aware that you may see certain words or descriptions in search results or library materials which reflect the author’s attitude or that of the period in which the item was created and may now be considered offensive.]

Janelle's Search Tips

Here are a few tricks you can use to help with your searching:

  • Use quotes around phrases such as "social media" or "mental health"
  • If your search term can have multiple endings (read, readings, readers) you can add an asterisk to the root of the word to find all the alternate endings instead of typing them all out = read*
  • Limit your results by 'Full text" option (can be found on the lefthand side)
  • Limit your results by date

  • Read the abstracts
  • Download articles to read later
