BUS 421, International Marketing: Plagiarism

Don't Really Understand Plagiarism?

You have just read the overview of this report (provided in the link above) and it says exactly what you want to say. Can you just copy it and put it into your report?

No. I know it is tempting because after all they have said it very clearly and you would not be able to do that yourself. An important part of the learning process is putting things into your own words. It is really important that you try to put all that you read into your own words.

  1. Put things into your own words.

  2. Put a citation in your references to say where you got the information.

  3. In addition to putting information into your own words,  you must explain why this information is relevant and analyse the information you are using in your report.  You are not simply copying and pasting information. Make sure to city properly any ideas, images, graphs or charts into your work.

  4. Make use of the services of the Academic Success Centre for writing help.

Here are some online tutorials to help teach you how to recognize if you are plagiarizing or not.
