How-to Instructions

Note:

In order to create playlists and share them with students, get a token link. Signing into your NFB Campus account through the token link will give you access to features that are only available to instructors. You only need to use this token link the first time.

  • Click on the token link from your liaison librarian and create an account by first selecting University of the Fraser Valley as your institution.
  •  Continue to create an account using your UFV email address. If you have already signed up for an account with NFB campus, continue to log in.

The browser link is the permanent link for streaming videos on NFB campus. To get the persistent link:

  • Search for videos using the search box on the left side of the web page.
  • From the list of results, click on a video's Title to view its details page.
  • Copy the browser link, and using your preferred web editor to create a link on your web page, paste the given permalink text as the URL in question.

To retrieve the embed code for a video from these collections:

  • Search for videos using the search box on the left side of the web page.
  • From the list of results, click on a video's Title to view its details page.
  • Choose the embed icon (</>) from the list of tools below the video description.
  • In the pop-up dialogue box, copy and paste the embed code into the HTML or source of your web page.

To add a film into your playlist:

  • Search for videos using the search box on the left side of the web page.
  • From the list of results, click on a video's Title to view its details page.

  • Select an existing playlist that you’ve created earlier, or click/tap “Create a new playlist” to start a new one.

If you want to focus only on part of a video, you can create a clip that you can then share:

  • Search for videos using the search box on the left side of the web page.
  • From the list of results, click on a video's Title to view its details page.
  • Click/tap the Create chapters icon.

  • Enter the Start time and End time below the video, or use the slider bar to choose your segment.
  • Enter the Title and Description of your segment on the right.
  • Click/tap Save.

  • To add/share the chapter/segment that you have created, on the left side of the NFB Campus webpage, click/tap CHAPTERS. This will bring up all the chapters (segments) you’ve created on the right-hand side of the screen.
  • Click/tap the “Add to playlist” button, and in the subsequent dialog box, create a new playlist or select an existing playlist to add your clip to.

To share a playlist:

  • Select PLAYLISTS on the right side of the NFB Campus web page. This will bring up your playlists to the right.
  • Select your playlist, which will take you to another page.

  • Tap/click SHARE THIS PLAYLIST at the top right, and a permanent link for the playlist will appear.
  • Copy this link and paste the link into your Blackboard course.
